What's new?

Pimcore continues to develop its platform, introducing new features that improve the efficiency of data management and business process automation. Version 2024.3, released in October 2024, focuses on three main areas: advanced automation, AI integration and workflow improvements. These new features aim to further simplify working with data and enrich the user experience in eCommerce, PIM and Digital Asset Management (DAM).

Version 2024.3 brings significant improvements in process automation, artificial intelligence and data management, enabling more efficient and accurate management of content and business processes.

Getting more automated and getting more out of AI

Pimcore version 2024.3 introduces key enhancements to help organisations increase productivity by automating processes related to data and digital asset management. AI and automation capabilities have been enhanced in this release, allowing the system to be more tailored to the individual needs of organisations.

One of the most important new features is the ability to train and tune AI models for image and text classification. Pimcore now offers fine-tuning options for models, enabling more precise and tailored solutions for industry-specific requirements.

In addition, workflow automation and item state management have become even more flexible with new event-based actions and triggers.

Pimcore Copilot expansion

One of the key elements of Pimcore 2024.3 is the enhancement of Pimcore Copilot, a tool that automates many business processes. The latest version introduces fine-tuning of AI models, which allows algorithms to be tailored to the specific needs of organisations. Fine-tuning allows for a better understanding of data in the context of organisation-specific categories, such as industry vocabulary or individual product features.

An example of this is the automatic classification of images, which is becoming more accurate thanks to new AI models. Users can now easily categorise visual assets by assigning appropriate tags, which will greatly simplify content searches in the future.

New actions for the automation

Pimcore version 2024.3 extends the automation capabilities by adding new automation actions that can be triggered by system events or by changing workflow states. Examples include changing the workflow state for product or multimedia data such as images and text. This allows organisations to easily automate processes such as content approval, publishing or archiving.

With these new features, Pimcore becomes a tool even more suited to the needs of large organisations that need to manage complex business processes and data at multiple levels.

New workflow actions

Another new feature is the enhancement of the workflow engine, which is integrated with Pimcore Copilot and allows for more flexible management of system elements. Users can now define the precise criteria that must be met to trigger specific automatic actions. The ability to define pre-criteria and filter data using PQL (Pimcore Query Language) now makes automation more precise.

Examples of using this feature are:

  • Changing the workflow status for images moved to the archive folder, where a new workflow status is automatically assigned without manual intervention.
  • Automatic assignment of a 'for review' status after Pimcore Copilot has generated text content, allowing the task to be automatically assigned to the appropriate content reviewers.

Increased automation flexibility

Pimcore 2024.3 gives users greater flexibility to define which events and workflows trigger specific automation actions. This enables organisations to manage their processes more precisely and tailor automation to specific business needs. New features allow the definition of workspaces in which actions are executed and detailed prerequisites.

For example, it is now possible to configure deletion notifications for items in a particular folder, so that the relevant people in the organisation are alerted to important changes. Another scenario is to automatically assign metadata and change the parent resource folder upon approval, making it much easier to control data quality.

Asset management - flexibility and control

Another improvement in version 2024.3 is greater control over media asset management. Users can now easily move assets to new folders with the appropriate metadata and workflow automatically assigned. This feature, combined with automatic tagging of images, enables organisations to manage their digital assets more efficiently.

An example of this is the process of importing new resources into the system, where once files are added to a specific folder, they are automatically analysed and assigned the relevant metadata, significantly reducing the time required to manually manage this data.

Summary

The new features of Pimcore 2024.3 open up a wide range of applications across different business sectors. With flexible AI tools, retail companies can automate product classification, making catalogue management easier and improving the user experience. And for the media industry, where managing large volumes of visual content is critical, new workflow automation makes organising digital assets faster and easier.

Pimcore 2024.3 introduces significant improvements in automation and data management. With new features such as AI model fine-tuning, workflow engine enhancements and flexible resource management, Pimcore becomes an even more effective tool for organisations looking for an advanced and integrated data management system. New automation capabilities minimise the need for manual work while increasing control over data quality.
