Gdynia Design Days is an annual festival bringing together the latest trends and directions in the field of design. The event is full of lectures, exhibitions, workshops, and discussions. The program is designed to reach both advanced people and entrepreneurs, as well as new people in the world of design. For 10 July days, Gdynia becomes the best summer meeting place for the design industry.

The first step was to meet and discuss the project thoroughly. During the conceptual workshops, we thoroughly discussed the idea and main assumptions of the new website. The aim of the project was to provide an attractive and transparent presentation of the festival, its individual events, and speakers within one, coherent website. The main challenge was a thoughtful presentation of all events that took place in different places, often at the same time. All this had to be given to the user not only in a comfortable (User Experience) but also especially graphically attractive setting so as to reflect the innovative character of the festival.
The new Gdynia Design Days 2018 website was also to be adapted to mobile devices (Responsive Web Design) and give users the opportunity to create their personalized schedule of events they would like to visit.
All these elements made up the full, complex project of a modern event website with very rigid deadlines. The whole was to be managed through an intuitive and modern Content Management System (CMS). The CMS was to be additionally adapted to the specific functions of the website in event management.
The graphic design was a particularly important element in the design of this website. Based on ready-made UX mockups (User Experience), we began to create the final look of the GDD 2018 website. Individual graphics were implemented with the latest trends in website design (Web Design) with particular attention to consistency with branding, appearance details, festival, and animations.
As the content management system in this project, we chose the ModX Revolution CMS, which we have significantly modified for the needs of the project. The most important of the dedicated solutions is the module that allows users to create their own personalized calendar of festival events. Each event tile has a button that adds them to favorites. All saved events are collected in a separate tab, arranged chronologically to create an individual festival schedule. The user can generate a PDF and print a shortlist of selected events.
The new site has met the rank and character of this unique festival. Carefully planned User Interface, User Experience and adaptation to mobile devices allowed for convenient and intuitive checking of events by festival participants. Modern design attracted attention and remained in memory.
The content management system allows you to quickly and easily prepare the next edition of the festival, and its easy-to-use management panel allows you to quickly modify the festival program and description of the speakers participating in the events.
