Change in the labeling of AdWords ads

Topics

This week, Google changed the way it marks AdWords ads in search results. With each change, paid links stand out more and more subtly.

Google this week introduced new labeling of AdWords ads in search results in Poland as part of ongoing tests. Until a few years ago, search engine results page (SERP) ad markings had a yellow background, then the color was changed to green, and now the sponsored link is distinguished only by a green border around the marking.

It is worth recalling that almost a year ago, side panel ads also disappeared. All these changes clearly show a trend - ads are supposed to resemble organic search results as much as possible.

It will be interesting to see what the next changes in AdWords will be, and how far Google intends to make its ads more similar to organic results. It remains to wait and analyze how performance metrics react to the next updates.
