Who it is for
Open Mercato fits companies that need sales, customer service or order handling shaped around their own processes, where a subscription CRM or ERP is too rigid. You start from ready modules and build only what sets your company apart. It may not fit if a standard subscription is enough, if nobody can maintain the application, or if you need long stable version history: the version is still below 1.0. It makes sense when:
Open Mercato in brief
A framework, not SaaS: code you install and extend, with ready modules from day one.

Modules
A standard app has dozens of modules that work together; projects mostly rely on these six.
30 minutes, no obligation: your process, your systems and whether Open Mercato is the right base for them.
Compare
The Open Mercato catalogue is enough when products serve mainly offers, orders and a B2B portal. When product data comes from many sources or goes to many channels, a PIM should be the source and Open Mercato should use its data.
| Criterion | Open Mercato catalogue | PIM (Pimcore, Akeneo, Ergonode) |
|---|---|---|
| Catalogue size | One or a few channels; products described with a dozen or so fields and variants | Hundreds of technical attributes, many channels and languages |
| Data sources | Sales or order teams keep prices, variants and images | Many suppliers and ERP, in spreadsheets, PDFs and price lists |
| Standards and feeds | Not in the Open Mercato documentation (as of 24 October 2026) | ETIM or ECLASS classification, BMEcat export, marketplace feeds |
| Content workflow | Product needed mainly in the quote, order and invoice | Staged enrichment with approval and completeness checks |
| Who owns what | Customer, quote, order and process | Product content and data quality |
Based on the Open Mercato documentation as of 24 October 2026.
Integrations
Open Mercato has a ready integration with Akeneo and connects to Pimcore and Ergonode through their APIs. The PIM stays the source of product data.

LemonMind and Open Mercato
LemonMind is on the official list of certified Open Mercato partners: 27 companies, all from Poland (as of 4 November 2026). We have no production Open Mercato implementation yet.
We are a Pimcore Platinum Partner and an Ergonode partner, and we implement Akeneo.
How the project runs
Goals, processes, systems and product data mapped to Open Mercato modules, including whether you need a PIM.
Open Mercato itself recommends a 3-week proof of concept: a working PoC on your data, with a plan and an estimate.
Catalogue, CRM and sales configured, missing processes built as your own modules, and connections to PIM, ERP, payments and the shop.
Tests from quote to order, launch on your infrastructure or cloud, training, and core updates planned so your changes stay intact.
Our PIM work

Read case studyOpen Mercato is an open-source framework for building business applications: CRM, ERP, B2B sales and customer portals. It runs on TypeScript, Next.js and PostgreSQL, has ready modules (customers, catalogue, quotes, orders, warehouse, workflows) and is built for work with AI coding agents.
A standard Open Mercato app has dozens of modules that work together. The six that matter most in projects: CRM (companies, people, deals and pipelines, with custom fields added from the panel without database changes); sales (channels, quotes, orders, invoices, shipments and payments, with a ready Stripe gateway); the product catalogue (products, variants with options, categories, price types and prices with validity periods, and a separate title, images and price per sales channel); warehouse, portal and service (locations and batches, a customer portal with company accounts, teams and working time, resource bookings, warranty claims); workflows and business rules; and AI and MCP (an AI assistant limited by user permissions, where every data change waits for approval, and an MCP server for AI clients such as Claude Code). Underneath: many companies and branches in one installation (multi-tenancy), role-based permissions, an audit log with undo, encrypted fields, search and events for integrations.
Open Mercato was launched in 2025 by Piotr Karwatka, the creator of Vue Storefront (now Alokai), together with Tomasz Karwatka. Both previously built the companies Divante and Callstack. The project is backed by Catch The Tornado.
The Open Mercato core is MIT-licensed, with no per-user fees. Enterprise features such as record locking, MFA and SSO come in a separate package under a commercial licence. Project costs are mainly implementation, development and hosting. More in SaaS, open-source and custom store platforms.
No. You install Open Mercato on your own server or in a cloud of your choice, for example on a VPS or on Railway. Open Mercato Cloud is a beta test environment for trying the framework, not production hosting.
For a simple catalogue, yes: Open Mercato has products, variants, categories, prices and separate offers per sales channel. When data comes from many sources, has hundreds of attributes or goes to many channels and languages, keep it in a PIM (Pimcore, Akeneo or Ergonode) and pass it to Open Mercato. More in product data management in e-commerce.
Open Mercato has a ready integration with Akeneo: attribute mapping, import of products with variants and images, and scheduled synchronisation. Pimcore and Ergonode connect through their APIs: we read data through GraphQL and write it to the Open Mercato catalogue through the REST API.
The project started in 2025. The latest version is 0.9.0 of 9 October 2026, and the repository has about 1,900 GitHub stars and more than 100 contributors (as of 4 November 2026). The version number is below 1.0, so core updates need planning.
Not yet. LemonMind is an official Open Mercato partner, and at the Open Mercato Agentic Hackathon in Sopot in April 2026 our team built a module that reads shipping documents. In Open Mercato projects we are responsible for product data and PIM integrations, backed by 70+ PIM and e-commerce implementations since 2010.
In 30 minutes we tell you which Open Mercato modules you can use straight away, what needs building and whether your product data needs a separate PIM.
